CMIO News to Know for the Week of Jan 6th.

Starting the year off with some important topics. Seeing some early adoption of AI and I believe we will see AI become more mainstream. These tools are commercially available and having an impact on care; I cover 3 AI related stories. I also cover the NEJM article about the first blood clot treated in space. Now that's telehealth! Minnesota is cracking down on docs that over-prescribe narcotics; as if docs didn't have enough to worry about. I also cover the NY Times editorial about the need for docs and nurses to band together to fight the evil EHR. Finally, another NEJM article about the lack of benefit from hospital mergers. My 2 cents on this is that integration, especially health IT integration, is really hard and we need a lot more time to see if quality will improve.
